The Tsitsistas/Shutai (Cheyenne) and the Chahiksichahiks (Pawnee) forcefully clash in this unusually large drawing. This bloody battle shows the Chahiksichahiks (Pawnee), who fight on foot, are no match for the mounted Tsitsistas/Shutai (Cheyenne) warriors. All three Tsitsistas/Shutai (Cheyenne ) warriors strike and wound the Chahiksichahiks (Pawnee) with their lances, accumulating numerous war honors. Warriors acknowledged the bravery of their war horses by attaching eagle feathers to their manes and tails.
