Description: 
Descended with the tradition that it belonged to William Cooper. Cooper probably brought the desk with him when he moved his family from Burlington, New Jersey to Cooperstown in 1790. William Cooper was the founder of Cooperstown and James Fenimore Cooper's father. The slant top desk has a lower case with 5 drawers with brass pulls/pierced escutcheons. The interior has 8 drawers and a central cabinet containing 3 drawers. Marks: Top of right support: "22," " -," "19C," "16" and other marks. Inside on front of small drawers in script on paper, top drawer 3rd drawer down: "Cash Kurd Sisters." 8 Victorian drawer pulls from desk, replaced with period pulls.
