This frame structure house was built for James Fenimore Cooper and family on the present site of the Fenimore Art Museum. Samuel Nelson also lived on this property and it was subsequently was owned by Edward Clark. Edward Severin Clark lived in this house, until rebuilding Fenimore House on the site in the early 1930s. The house was part of the Fenimore Farm property. Today the rebuilt Fenimore House stands and is open to the public as the Fenimore Art Museum on Lake Road in Cooperstown, New York.
