This quilled panel originally served as a coverlet on the lower part of a cradle. Here five deer or underwater panthers are depicted in striking silhouette marching in procession. Above and below are rows of half-diamond motifs interchanged with thunderbirds. The archaic simplicity of the design reflects early Plains quillwork at its best. The metal cones would have created noise attracting the attention of the baby.
