Wendat (Huron) sashes, or ceinture fléchée, are created by using a fingerwoven technique similar to braiding. Sashes are sometimes interwoven with white beads to create a contrast in color and texture. The fringe is often twisted together or braided at the top while the end is left long and loose. The richly colored and patterned sashes were worn everyday, with fine ones reserved for formal dress.
