Description:
Sashes such as this are worn by male dancers in many ceremonies. When worn around the waist, the decorated ends hang almost to the ground. But sometimes the sash is worn around the neck with the ends crossed over the chest. Sashes are woven on upright narrow looms. Two identical pieces are made and then stitched together. The ends of this sash are elaborately patterned by a technique referred to as “Hopi brocade.”
