The S’xwaixwey is the most prominent and well-known mask among the Salish people. Its eyes project on stalks like the eyes of a crab or snail, its nose is the head of a bird, and the tops of its horns are also birds' heads. The S’xwaixwey mask is danced at potlatches, puberty ceremonies, weddings and funerals.
