High-ranking warriors were identified by the ornamentation on their clothing and personal belongings as seen in this shirt’s quillwork and hair fringe. Red- and yellow-dyed quillwork was associated with the life giving sun and ochre, a pigment associated with spirituality and medicine. Some of the hair was donated by supportive relatives while other hair was taken as war trophies. The shirt is of the traditional poncho style, opened at the sides. The front legs and neck of the antelope formed the sleeves and the hind legs were left to hang at the bottom
