An Athapaskan woman’s ability to sew well-made and finely-decorated footwear has always been an important skill. These moccasins and slippers are decorated with beadwork in a floral pattern and both are lined with fur. Throughout the 20th century Athapaskan women have used their needlework skills to fill family needs and produce items for sale. Prized fancy footwear such as these pairs are treasured and used for special events.
