This early 20th century basket shows the changes that took place in weaving after the 19th century. It has a simple embroidered design and is small in size, but the basketmaker also added a delicate pattern of zigzag and parallel lines in her weaving, similar to the subtle patterns seen on hats. Such baskets were made for tourists who wanted baskets with especially fine stitching and that were easy to transport.
