The ability to sew finely made and elaborately decorated footwear has been a traditional skill among Athapaskan women. These moccasins are decorated with dyed moosehair tufted in a floral pattern to create a raised effect. Throughout the 20th century Athapaskan women have used their needlework skills to make clothes for their families and produce items for sale.
