Excerpt from the Thaw Catalog: Victorian taste became noticeable in the embroidery of the Lorette Wendat (Huron) by the mid-19th century, losing some of its former complexity in design. Nevertheless, the Wendat (Huron) woman who made these moccasins displayed incredible skill with this embroidery. (c.f.
