Description: 
Daguerrotype of Mrs. James Fenimore Cooper (Susan Augusta DeLancey Cooper) wearing a dress and bonnet with pink tinted cheeks. Mat is elliptical in shape and made of brass, with a stamped, gold preserver. Front and back of case are not connected. On the interior of the front cover there is a brown velvet lining with an impressed floral decoration over which a blue piece of paper has been pinned reading "Mrs. James Fenimore Cooper taken about 1846." Front of case mimics a daguerreotype frame and mat with a floral spray at the center. The back of the case is a stamped geometric pattern. Edges of cases on front and back are bordered with a golden colored stencil.
